Climatic Fund of Yucatan Peninsula founded

Since COP-16 in Cancun, the three states of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico have decided to work together to address climate change. In order to implement regional mitigation and adaptation strategies for climate change, Quintana Roo, Campeche, and Yucatan, created the Yucatan Peninsula Climate Action Fund (YPCAF) which is committed to achieving high standards of transparency and effectiveness. Through this financial instrument, the region seeks to capture and distribute funding, and direct it to activities to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG), eliminate deforestation, and promote environmental restoration and adaptation actions for ecosystems and local communities.
